Wild Swimming Walks

Joining me on a Wild Swimming Walk is a fabulous way to explore the beautiful countryside and history of the Frome Valley wandering between Somerset & Wiltshire.

There are several walks to choose from with varying distances, lengths of time and number of wild swim spots visited. It's a great way to get safely introduced to a new swim spot or two, meet lovely like minded people and also enjoy all the health benefits of spending time outdoors. Tea & cake are served on all walks and some include a breakfast picnic.

Tellisford

A gentle circular walk starting from Rode, strolling along lanes to the stunning hamlet of Tellisford, down the ancient cobble steps and over the medieaval packhorse bridge. We stop for a swim at Tellisford Weir followed by tea and snacks, or a breakfast picnic, depending on the timing of the walk you’ve booked. In the past we’ve spotted herons, egrets, swans, wagtails, kingfishers and deer. Then it’s a gentle flat wander back along the riverside path to our starting point.

Bradford-on-Avon

A circular walk from the train station carpark that takes in the historic Tithe Barn before we join the canal towpath, past the lock gates and out of town. After a while we turn into Widbrook Woods, cross a tiny bridge and emerge out into the river fields where we’ll stop for a wildswim and a snack. We then follow a local shortcut footpath through the woods, coming out in the centre of Bradford On Avon right next to the iconic C14th bridge with its Lock Up. You will then be free to return to the station carpark with me or explore the town yourself, maybe treat yourself to lunch in one of the many fantastic cafes or restaurants.

Warleigh Weir

A great walk from Dundas Aqueduct, an ancient scheduled monument, to Warleigh Weir and back. This walk includes a swim stop at the iconic local swim spot, Warleigh Weir. Rode - Tellisford - Farleigh

Starting in the village of Rode, mentioned in the Domesday book, we follow the river path, stopping for a wildswim or dip at Tellisford Weir. After a small snack we cross the medieval packhorse bridge and climb the ancient cobble steps into the hamlet of Tellisford. We wend our way through some truly quintessential landscapes, wander past Farleigh Castle and St Leonards church to arrive at the Farleigh & District Swimming Club for our second swim.
